Tutor's Notes 9 to 12

These lessons are all about changing the appearance of your avatar. They can be used to encourage your students' visual creativity and graphics skills.

Lesson 9
The free clothes can be obtained from Pell Juran's Marketplace. Alternatively you can make your own collection or encourage students to obtain clothes from elsewhere on the Marketplace and elsewhere in SL. Many clothes are free on the Marketplace and you can sort items by price to show the free ones first.

There are many free shops in SL - search under Freebie on the SL viewer search. N.B. These can be very busy places in SL and may contain adult material. It may be wise for you to visit someof these before recommending them to your students.

Lesson 10
OK

Lesson 11
Adobe Photoshop is quite expensive. You may find it useful to use GIMP, a free package similar to Adobe Photoshop. Download this free from http://www.gimp.org/ . If you wish to create your own animations and don't have a professional animation package you can try Blender from http://www.blender.org/ and even easier to use is QAvimator free from http://www.qavimator.org/ .

Lesson 12
This can be a useful exercise to encourage the class to work as a single team. The show can be recorded using standard screen capture software such as Camtasia or you can use Fraps free from http://www.fraps.com/ . However, Fraps only works on PC/Windows computers and creates uncompressed AVI files which tend to be very large.

You can use a video editing package to create your finished film and load this up to YouTube.
